It's a long story, but I have a work phone that is bulky and doesn't really fit in my pockets - can I buy a new phone and transfer service myself? I know when we had sprint there was an acct password you HAD to have... is verizon like this?

To be honest, I'm really not sure. My old phone was an xv6700 (I don't think it has a sim card..) and the 'new' phone is an LG vx5200

generally no. You would have to buy the phone from them and have them activate it in the store. Verizon is a CDMA system. If you had a compatible phone, knew how to program it, and know someone who works in the stores technically it is possible to do it yourself.

I didn't know you could do it online. But you can definitely do it without a verizon agent standing next to you. Just have to call a certain phone #.
