I would like to get a degree in (i think it is) Computer Buisness Science Technology, if i go to MIT (lol this is funny but where and what is MIT???? Michigan Institute of Technology? ) or if i go to ITT Technical Institute what would be required of me to get in? I have searched the Itt-Tech website and found nothing. Help would be greatly appricated :)

Btw: I am working on getting MSCE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) and im probably gonna start heading into the whole Cisco area ...Certification and all the reading and learning.

I love this stuff...:D

*Edit* also..... Is there other better Computer Technology College Institutes other than MIT and ITT-Tech? Which is considered the best?

Being super smart and having a lot of money will help with getting into MIT.

I'm not really sure its fair to compare the 2... MIT is like the uber-1337 place for tech, top of the line school... ITT, heck, I got invited to tour the Pittsburgh campus... I don't think it takes a WHOLE lot to get into ITT.

Totally different requirements.

For MIT, you'd probably need SAT > 1400, ACT > 30, stuff like that (I'm taking guesses here). MIT is very selective and prestigious.

For ITT, on the other hand, it should be a piece of cake to get in.

MIT and ITT-Tech are different types of schools. You're not going to be going to MIT to get an MCSE :) or any other networking/IT type credential.

MIT and ITT Tech are a world apart. Comparing those two is like comparing a Benz and a Kia. For MIT you gotta be a top of the class, extremely smart, top scores on the SAT, ACT and SAT II, lots of extra curicular activities. ITT is a technical school, a trade school. I think you only need your high school diploma to get in.

another really good school, considered to have a more strenous workload than MIT is Cal Tech, although its not prestigious as MIT.

Um i apply to MIT but got rejected. Basically you need to have super high SAT scores to get in, my 1480 wasn't high enoguh for them. Im thinking about 1500+ (and ace the math section (800)). You also need to do really well on all your SATII, like get 780+ on both Math 2c, and a science. Its alot easier for girls to get in than guys, but another thing to consider is intern at a computer company or a science company, and mabye start a research paper or two (i know the Cal tech applicaiton woudl like you to submit a research paper).

To get into either of those schools, you really gotta stand out, do something like win the Intel science fair, or something like that... Also do the standard stuff to get into those high powered schools: extraciruccular activies, etc... Since your home schooled you need to probably get very very high on sats and do alot of research work since you dont really have a GPA.

Oh, another good school for comp sci or enginnering is Harvey Mudd (i actually got into that school, but decided not to go), its not as prestigious as MIT or Cal Tech, but its a bit more reasonable to get into, if you aren't the one of the 1% of all high school graduates. Harvey Mudd Colleges is a very very good school though, you need sat scores of at least 1450+ to get in, and it is more academic focused rather than research focused.

any other questions, PM me and ill try to help you out, its good to start thinking about colleges early...

Here's a rule of thumb that I try to live by: If they advertise on public access TV, they're probably not in the top 10...;)

Umm... no you could get your MCSE at ITT. ITT=trade school. MIT=Cream of crop school.

MIT is not to Computers what Harvard is to law. I would say MIT is much better with computers than Harvard is with law. Yale seems to be much better than Harvard in law but I digress...

Here are the requirements for ITT-Tech...

? Have a high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
? Meet with a representative of ITT Tech
? Pass an admissions test or have an acceptable score on ACT or SAT taken in the last three years or have earned an associate or higher level degree from an accredited educational institution.
? Arrange a time to tour the school
? Pay the application fee

So basically, you just have to be able to pay.

As for MIT, as others have mentioned, it is a top tier school. They accept people that are basically geniuses and have the will to work hard. I consider Cal-Tech and MIT on par, and I know a couple people who went to Cal-Tech, and your schoolwork needs to be damn near perfect, your recommendations must absolutely glow with how much your high school math and sciene teachers love you and think you will become some great whatever it is you are to become, and you need to participate in many, many, many extra curricular math and science events.

I don't know how the home schooling will affect you, but I don't think it willl help. With these schools, you are competing against the very best in the US and around the world. Sorry to sound like such a downer, but if you seriously want to go to these schools, you are going to have to sacrafice.

I knew a guy who had 1600 on his SAT, and 800's on all of his SAT II's, and was the valedictorian of my graduating class who didn't get into MIT. You need a lot more than high grades and scores to be accepted there. The fellow I knew excelled in several science related extra cirricular activities and was loved by all the faculty at our school, but it wasn't nearly enough. You need to be a Westinghouse Semifinalist, or have lots of scientific research awards to be a competitive candidate for MIT. It also helps if you've attended a famous (and competitive) prep school, or elite public academy (like Stuyvesant), as being a valedictorian from there counts a lot more than being one at your average suburban high school.

Or be female.

ITT is a technical trade school which doesn't require much at all. MIT is one of the top schools in the nation. Maybe you should look at Caltech also. (if you are interested in working with NASA then definitly Caltech is the place to go, it's very close to JPL)
