It's compareable to a GF2-GTS 3D Speed wise, a G400 image quality wise, it can bring DVD playback below 10% CPU usage on a 550, and it can manage TV-output quality nearly as good as a Hollywood plus. And it has TV-in features.

So I guess it's a GF2 GTS with a TV-Tuner, a Hollywood plus and 2D that doesn't suck?

How come with ATI cards (I've only owned one , the AIW radeon) you have to try a bunch of unnoficial drivers.. before you find ones that work.. <note> still haven't found those magical perfect drivers either</note>
I either can't get flash stuff to work (it actually is the drivers) or multimedia capabilities on my card won't werk.. stupid thing..

speaking of the radeon, mine should arrive tomorrow! Can't wait to get me new comp...

btw, if anyone is thinking of getting a radeon, you should do it throught the trade up program, its fast and easy. I ordered mine on tuesday and its supposed to come tomorrow (as I already mentioned). All for the low low price of $190 (USD) after shipping and taxes (and that's for the full retail version, not the 166/166 OEM one :))

Well, I slapped that puppy in my machine, used the latest "official" drivers, and ran it through the wringer. Conclusion: Great card *BUT* (you knew there would be a but) It aint all that much faster than my Asus 6800 DLX DDR. With the det3 drivers on my geforce I got 4650 3dmarks in 1024x768x32 and 5107 in 1024x768x16. On the Radeon I got 4996 at 1024x768x32 and 4609 at 1024x768x16. I know about the Radeon sucking in 16bit mode but I kinda expected more in 32bit mode. ts just marginally faster than the ddr geforce I have now. I will continue to tweak this badboy as see what happens. *BUT* (I forgot to tell you), Even though in benchmarks its not much faster, The graphic quality (IMO) BLOWS away the geforce! Much more vibrant colors as opposed to the washed out look of the geforce. More detail, etc, etc. I think ATI finally got it right! Now I gotta try and overclock this sucker! Thanks all! :)

Yucky: Yeah I have been known to slam the Radeon's drivers now and again.

But to be fair to the Radeon I haven't used it since october, so they have had a lot of time to fix the drivers.

3D Mark 2000 and the Radeon aren't excactly the best of friends. If you run some Quake, MDK and UT benches you'll see that the Radeon is definately faster.

As far as drivers go, I'm still using the drivers that came with my card. They run all my games perfectly and they are faster than the 7089s.

Anybody noticed how we're getting closer to the 8000 unified drivers? I suspect that they'll make their debut the same time as the Radeon SE. I'm expecting some decent increases since the Radeon SE is basically and overclocked Radeon and we all know the Radeon doesn't overclock well. Gotta be the drivers baby:D
