Bording school - High class: pupils stay within the grounds all term (etan, etc)

Private school - Upper class: Payed by the parents - however the governement can pay for exceptional students (Grammar)

Puplic school - generaly everyone else (Comprehensive).

Because the Americans on these boards are so much better?
Then vs Than. Could vs Couldn't. Perform vs Preform. Etc.

In England we have:
State schools (Paid for by the state).
and
Independent schools (Fee charging).

Independent schools were previously known as private schools. Particularly high class private schools were known as 'public' schools, despite being nothing of the sort.

So, the not as elite Independant schools are called Private schools?
Jeremy Clarkson made a comment about cars to take kids to private school in, and I was wondering exactly what he ment.
