What is PCI-E

Hi all, I've seen alot of threads saying "wait for PCI-E mobos" etc etc, I'm not too good with computers, so I was just wondering, what is this PCI-E? From what infomation i could gather, it lets you use 2 graphic cards on the PCI socket, giving you faster performance? Is that it?

PCI-E stands for pci-express. pci-express is going to be the next interface for video cards replacing agp. there are several types, x-16 is for graphics, x-4 will be used to replace the traditional pci slot.
