What is Oxycodone?

A narcotic alkaloid, C18H21NO4, related to codeine, used as an analgesic and a sedative chiefly in the form of its hydrochloride salt.
You should get the dictionary plugin for FF... that way any word is just a right-click away from being defined.

It's trailer park heroin.

It's one of the most highly addictive painkillers. I wouldn't use it unless I had to if I were you.

Even people who use it exactly as prescribed suffer withdrawals when they stop.

Better check with Rush Limbaugh, he's an expert on all those 'Oxy' derivatives.

Right Winged, close-minded, lying, Oxycotin Eater.

It's an opioid, or an opium derivitave rather. Morphine, Codine, Vicodin or just about any other pain killer ending in -din(e) will usually belong to this class of drugs.

Good stuff for mild to moderate pain managment, but don't take it unless you genuinely need it. That stuff is addicting. I would suggest giving ibuprofin (up to 600mg) a chance to work first.

You know what, my mistake. I was thinking of Hydrocodone, not Oxycodone. Forget everything you just read.

Don't confuse oxycodone with oxycotin. Oxycodone is a generic percocet, as stated earlier. Oxycotin is a very strong highly addictive pain killer that is very hot on the black market right now. BIG difference.

Whoops, you're right. 😱

My mistake. Ignore my "sky is falling" post.

The active ingredient in Oxycontin is oxycodone. Oxycontin is a larger than usual dose in a time-release formulation.

http://health.howstuffworks.com/question706.htm

Oxycodone is one of many morphine derivatives. Others include codeine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, and yes, heroin. All have different potencies and addiction potential. Going by the scheduling, heroin would seem to be the most addictive, followed by hydromorphone and hydrocodone, while codeine seems to be the least addictive. But that's just by the FDA scheduling, which presumably takes other factors into account.

Oycodone is actually in both oxycontin and percocet, not a generic equivalent for percocet. It is the active ingredient, and the addictive ingredient. Percocet is about 15% or so oxycodone, while oxycontin is near 100% oxycodone, thus why its more powerful.

Edit:
Beat me to it Gibbons.....

umm

your confusing it with oxycontin

JB

Edit:
people sniff em for the same effect as dope.

i have a friend who had an oxycontin problem, i almost joined him, but i took alot less than he did when he had it. man that stuff was great, it was like real life except better. i never realized how much the everyday aches and pains can make reality suck. a little pinch of sunshine dust and you're a new person.

I have oxycodone tablets from about 4 years ago when I had my hernia surgery. I never did finish the bottle. If someone were to take then with alchoal would this heighten the effect or would it be dangerous?

It would heighten the effect... you might get nauseated easier from consuming both though. Dangerous... maybe, depends on how many pills you take.

It's trailer park heroin.

Meth is the trailer park heroin around here (south central Mississippi). They are always blowing themselves up trying to make it too. I hear about it on the news often about how X's trailer burned down or exploded, later to find that it was caused by his crystal meth lab blowing up.
