What is needed to stream video on home lan?

I'm curious how I can stream video from a PC hooked up to a TV to another PC on a home lan. Are there any affordable software packages that can do this with no loss in quality?

good question, I would like to know too. I think I remember some web based prog that would kinda do this but it seemed more geared toward Pocket Pc's I think. You might try posting in Video or Networking, I think they might have a better idea.

If that hardware had a sharing option this would be easy, but I know something like this wouldnt have it. I know someone that that tricks yahoo into thinking a tv tuner is a cam and it works really affectivly. Maybe theres a way to do this over lan using msn messenger. I would think your best bet would to find a software that allows you to stream video over a network, ive heard of an old software called "lanstream" but it probly wouldnt help in your case and I dont even think there around anymore anyhow.
