I don't mean constitutional requirements. I mean where do you need/should start to build up to it? Should you become a city councilman first? How do you begin to get known and raise money for a congressional bid? What is the most efficient way to get there?

You have to be rich, and you have to climb over the back-stabbed bodies of dozens of your betters before you can reach office.

Maybe Bird222 should ask the better question, and ask, once some individual is elected to congress, how much money must you raise each and every day to mount a successful reelection campaign? And then we can better understand why our congress must whore themselves out to lobbyists and special interests, instead of the interests of the American people they should be serving instead.

Be a well respected active member of your community, be active in your party. Those are the only 100% needed requirements, of course money is always handy in an election.

A good plan would be join the PTA,NRA, FFA, elk lodge, Masons, Shriners or other social club of some sort---> city council -----> state legislature------> run for congress

Does anyone have any real advice for getting started in this pursuit?

The advice I recently got was to volunteer for a campaign and try to pick up everything you can. If you have a party affiliation, try and meet up and see who is in line in front of you.

Spending money and signature drives are ahead of you.

Sure, get accepted to an Ivy League school, practice backstabbing and selling out, rat on your friends, chase hookers, do a little coke, get a job with a globalist think tank, work on Wall Street, and maybe worship Satan. Do all that and you're about halfway there.

Good luck!

here is a pdf of the various facts about the 2011-2012 Congress and their previous profession. More than half were in the state legislature before they came to Congress. The average age of an incoming freshman is 48 years old. You will also need to see the party makeup in the area you live in. If you are Republican in NYC, you probably will never serve in the Congress and likewise if you are a Democrat in rural Georgia, the same. You will need to move or change your political ideology.
