First, in reference to your rig... an XP2100 is 1733 Mhz, not 1700...

Second, in order to know if you can push your CPU any more, we'd need to know what stepping it is, what heatsink you're using, if the air flow through your case is adequate (how many case fans, and how many degrees above room temp is your case)

My CPU heat sink is an SLK-800A with a YS-tech Variable speed fan and AS3.
My CPU is a Family 67 Model 88 Stepping 11.
I have 2 front case fans and a rear case fan.
My case is about 9 degrees above room temp.

Wouldn't mind getting above 200FSB like yours!

FSB will run at 230... RAM won't though. So I'm running everything in sync, but slower =)

Anyway... case sounds cool enough I guess... mine is usually 0-2 degrees above room temp.

The stepping off the sticker on the CPU itself would be more helpful... did you take any pictures of it before you installed it? =) I always do that... makes it lots easier to find stuff out later on if I forget... also nice to have a bunch of pictures of all the parts I've had in the past =)

I didn't take a picture but I did write it down. It was one of the guranteed one's from ExcaliberPC.com.

Ok... you're probably pretty close to the limits of the processor then. DLT3C's are better overclockers... but hey... that's still a great overclock... over 20%, which is typical for AMD processors. To be honest... that's enough CPU power to run any game today... and paired with that video card, you should have no trouble playing any game that exists today.

(looking at your rig) I guess what I'd do next with that system is either get a Barton CPU for the extra cache... the XP2500 should hit 2.2 Ghz fairly easily... either that, or if your motherboard has a SATA controller, maybe a Raptor hard drive as your Windows drive. Put all your programs n stuff on there too and your computer will "feel" MUCH faster.

I just got the 2100XP a month ago, so the Barton is not an option at this point. Surely I can squeeze more out of this setup?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think that you can get a DLT3C 2100+, only 1700+'s.

In any case, there is no reason why you can't get to at least 200mhz on your FSB. Just drop your multiplier down to around 10 and work the FSB up untill you hit your limit. You may have to give it some Vcore or, depending on the rev of your motherboard, some Vdd.

What revision is your NF7-S, anyway?

You should be good then. Make it a point to get to 200mhz first. Anything more than that is a bonus, cuz then you will also be overclocking your memory to keep it in synch.

Good luck.

Thanks! I am now at 200X10 after testing with 190X10 last night with no issues. I am still at default voltage also so I am happy so far!

Hey FLUX, I fear no CPU!!

did u lock your AGP/PCI clock? try using dividers if u want to progress. Overclocking ur GPU would help in matching bus bandwidth differences

With that board, the PCI bus is locked. Make sure that you have your AGP bus set at 66mhz.

Have you tried running Prime yet? You may need to give it a little bit of Vcore. Remember that the Abit board undervolts a little. Bump it up in steps until it is stable.

If you are at 200mhz FSB, then make sure your memory timings are at default.

It ran fine in Prime95, 3Dmark01 or 03 will not run. AGP is at 66. Memory is at default. I have dropped back to 190X11 for now and testing. How much should I bump Vcore at a time if I go back to 200?

Could it be your modded Radeon and not the processor causing problems in 3dmarks?

Also, TN...Battlefield1942 patch 1.4 is out :p

Backed off to 190X11 and ran 3dmark01 fine with a 10105.

Going back up to 200X11 and see if that runs ok. - Nope, doesn't run.

I will get it Flux! Thanks!

Running at 190X10 and by speed memory settings and playing BF 1942 with no problems. My voltage is up to 1.65. Should I go back to 200 and try to bump voltage up more?

Sure, why not? You may have to bump up your chipset voltage a little. I bet if you give it a little more Vdd, it may stabalize at 200mhz.

i have a 1700+ @ 200x11 @ 1.625v with an Nf7-S rev. 20 Vdimm @ 2.7
i think if you add a bit (get it? abit? ha- no) more voltage around you might get better stability
i learned that you can't run 2.2ghz @ 1.5 volts

also, can't you lower your memory timings to get the FSB up?
