What is my limit in OC'ing my p4 1.6a?

I'm totally new at OCing, and I really want to get my P4 1.6a up to 166mhz fsb. Right now, it can reach 150fsb fine. I just need some answer before i push it any further.

1) I read somewhere that people can lock their pci/agp bus speed. How do I do this? Cant find it in bios.
2) How can I change the ratio between ram/cpu/pci buses?
3) How will the increase in fsb affect IDE/PCI/AGP buses? usb devices? Any positive/negative effects that would hinder the performance if I can lock certain thing? from my understanding, my board will change the divider once it hits 133, so everything should be fine at 133fsb. what is the next point?

This is my system specs:
MSI 845ultra aru
p4 1.6a @ 140 fsb right now.
256mb of samsung pc2700
AIW 8500 128mb
400W PS

Thanks

well certain devices dont run properly if the pci bus is out of wack, even destroys them. So from my understanding if u cant lock the pci/agp when u raise ur fsb u are also raising the speed on your pci/agp slots and risking damage and system instability. there could also be an option like a1/5th divider for the AGP and PCI busses but that's out of my league because i am not really familiar with the board at all

hope this can help some

Thanks. Since I just got this very expensive video card, i wouldnt want to ruin it. Maybe, someone has this board, and has pushed the fsb beyond 166.

1)I had the ultra ARU and I don't remember it having an agp/pci lock...so you may be out of luck there....

2)Also If I remember correctly and barring any bios revisions that may have added stuff the board reverts to 1:1 ratio after 132fsb and I don't remember the option for 4:3 ratio to downclock it....

3) High pci speeds damage harddrives and cause system instability....

remember increases in vcore and vdimm (the voltage for ram) could help, but I don't remember the msi having that option as well....

Basicx sumup...get rid of that board as you likely can not do much better....Look for an epox 4bda or 4g4a mobo...has locks...has ample ram controls and voltage controls...

Also...List current vcore and the vcore neede to run stable at 150fsb...also temps at both...You may just not have an 1.6a capable of it....

What is the packing date??

A lot of questions to really answer....

Thanks for your reply.

This board sux. I got it clearance for $45 brandnew at pcboost.com while its 120$+ everywhere else, so i cant complain. Just love the raid/10 usb ports with some usb 2.0. I ran everything at default voltage, and i really dont know about the packing date and such for the cpu. Was very stable at 150fsb, but didnt leave it there long b/c i know it will hurt something, so I lower it down to 140fsb. If you think it's still dangerous at that speed, I would drop it to 133 or even 100fsb. I dont really need that extra speed, just wanna know how far it goes. The board does offer voltage adjustment for everything, just no ratio selection. Guess i will have to do more research at their website. (their forum sux though) Oh, is there any software that can tell me what bus speed everything is running at?

Anyone else had this board???
