What is my likelihood???

I am thinking of selling my pc2700 kingamx ddr do to its failure to run 400+ mhz on this current epox board though it ran 410+ on my sis645 mobo....Oh well!!!

So I ran at high cpu speed and only 333mhz ddr...I get 2550-2600 in sandra scores...I could do better...

I am considering picking up 1 512mb stick of pc3200 xms corsair memory from newegg for 175.00....

What is the liklihood I can run this at...

400-420
421-440???

I would like to keep fsb I have and gain as much memory bandwidth as possible...based on reviews I have seen these chips hitting 440 with the ost conservative settings and getting 3300-3400 in sandra...

What do you think...

If not the cas2 at 333mhz could be even a nice boost for myself on this board...I can only run cas2.5 with this kingmax and the epox dislikes it so much I can't ewrun ultimate setting other cas2.5...

Will it make it to 400 or close? The Corsair is good stuff, and it should do very well. Even my regular old Samsung PC2700 runs DDR400. An 845G 160 FSB 4:5 DDR400 (or higher) would be pretty sweet with that nice CPU of yours! Do a little math...166 FSB 4:5 = DDR415. Very possible.

yeah that is still a possibility...I amy go memory route first then upgrade the mobo...

This mobo was a fathers day gift and I probably should keep it longer then 1 month, right???😉

If I can't get 440 like in some of the reviews, and I may not with this picky epox mobo...hen I will jack her up to 170-175fsb and run cas2 and all timings maxed out...should get good performance boost

That is right Thugs...My current epox i845d has only 3:4 that is why I ask about possibility of doing 166/3 * 4 = 221.333 x 2 = 442.667mhz...I would even go done just a hair to 160fsb to run 426.667mhz....

Will dual channel ddr need to have memory in pairs...one stick for each channel???

I am running my XMS 2700 at 413.2ddr...it runs fine @426.8ddr 2.6v...don't know about 442ddr tho...
but i am using conservative setting since i have to option to change it...

And they did it with out using the slowest timings....That means it had a bit left....

"Corsair XMS3000 :
For example, the XMS3000 was a better one. Everything, what we thought the XMS2700 would do for us, the XMS3000 did. So it was the only stick that reached in this tests, 230 mhz it was one of the few that run at frequencies over 200 Mhz with a fast latency of CL2. It was also one of the few that were able to run at 166 Mhz with 2-2-2-5-1 without problems. So this is the memory module you might want to get, but be careful : It´s expensive. If money doesn´t matter, there is nothing better on the market, but if money matters, than go for a Samsung DDR333 that is much cheaper. After all tests, the Corsair XMS3000 gets our award for the best performance :"

A lot of the other reviews culdn't get them past 194....but that is because they were on crappy via/amd systems...reviewers stated anything past 200mhz caused major problems on kt333 boards...

I hear the pc3200 is basically pc3000 which when oc'd to ddr400 can't be ran at cas 2 anyways....

The review did 210 with very decent settings....Like I said if I have to I will drop away from the 440 a bit to get 400+mhz ddr and a high cpu clock...

So which one??? Does that platinum heat spreader sh^t do anything for me in irking out a bit mre mhz to run high fsb and 3:4 ratio???

Duvie, the heat spreader looks the same as mine (XMS 3200), except silver. Couldn't find anything on their site about it. Maybe the word 'Platinum' makes it better...hehe 🙂
Faced with the same decision, I went with the 3200 (black spreader). My mem scores aren't outstanding, but I think maybe it's because it's not running at full potential (2.4 is about as high as I can go and my mobo doesn't have the ratio I need). Anyway, good luck!

They tested with an SiS setup. One thing I notice about the SiS is you can get the DDR speeds up there, maybe higher than an 845 setup, but they perform lower than the 845 @ the same DDR speed. My mem scores @ DDR400 are ~ what it gets @ DDR440 in that test.

yep i noticed that too.

Duvie ~ remember my old XMS vs Kingmax on a 3:5 ratio test? (FEB 02) they both ran higher (but slower) on the SiS board.
