what is more complicated to play

With Madden, you can use "Ask Madden" for all your play calling, let the computer do auto-substitutions, and all you really have to do during any given play is press A to snap the ball and then either let the back run it or choose a receiver to pass to. If you don't touch the controls, the back or receiver will be controlled by the computer. During defense, you don't have to do anything.

On the other hand, Call of Duty is basically the same way. You can play with a really basic understanding of the game and just shoot at guys, let the computer automatically reload when you run out of bullets in a mag, and ignore crouching, prone, sprinting, grenades, your knife attack, and anything else. You'll suck but you can still play. Same with Madden. You can ignore everything and play the game practically on autopilot but you won't be as good.

I've never been able to play Madden games. Way too many plays to call, people to throw to, etc. CoD is pretty simple really.

i'd say madden.

but only because if you had to teach somebody who had no understanding of either game, nor the sport of football, madden would be a lot tougher to teach to someone because you would have to teach them rules of football as well as how to play the game.

but to an average gamer, i'd say they are about just as easy to play as eachother. it just depends on the level that people are looking to play a game at.

Madden.

Not only is the game relatively complicated but you have to understand at least the basic rules of football as well. There's also no concept of checkpoints in sports games (other than restarting the entire game from the beginning, which isn't how you are supposed to play).

Not sure, but I know an unskilled player will get schooled by an expert in either game.

Both have varying difficulties and options that make it easier, but Madden can get MUCH more complicated if that's your fancy so that's my choice. CoD isn't very complicated as most kids can pick it up and get it with standard options, but Madden has a hell of a learning curve... especially if you've never played a football game before.

Madden by far.

I've been taking a friend of mine through the ropes in Madden and COD4 (he just got an xbox), and he has a lot harder time playing Madden at a competitive level than COD4. Madden games are kind of built upon previous games, so to those who've played the previous maddens will have a good running knowledge of the game and can transition fairly easy. Those that haven't played a Madden game in a while, will struggle with the game.

COD is an easy game that's hard to master, mostly because there are so many people on the online community that have played the game for nearly forever. Even then, COD4 is quick and easy to pickup and learn.

Madden is much harder to play because it requires that you know the sport in order to enjoy playing. It's not very friendly to new players. Having only recently started enjoying football, I still can't stand Madden. I look at the various plays and think "Oh, this one has some neat squiggles".

Call of Duty doesn't require much prior knowledge, other than you know what a gun does. It lays it out as the game progresses.

Madden is a lot harder to get in to because there's really no "story" to help immerse you in the game. The concept is simply "simulate some football with a team of your choice!"... nothing like "You're Johnny P. American and you just arrived in a foreign country! Some guy is trying to be a total dick and you need to go shoot you some sonsabitches before they shoot you!"

I could go on, but I'm sure you guys get the point.

For the record though, Madden is boring as shit.

To each their own. I get much more time out of Madden single player than CoD single player. Counting multiplayer is a different story... but still. Maybe I just take knowing football for granted but Madden can be a fucking blast, especially playing against roommates.

I have always sucked at Madden games bigtime. I understand the game of football... I spend the better part of every Saturday and Sunday in the fall watching my teams but I don't know the details of how the various plays and various defenses are supposed to work well enough to apply them to Madden. I haven't owned a Madden game in quite a few years... but I might buy 10 at some point.... either that or the latest NCAA version. That's the only way I'll ever have a shot at seeing either of my teams win the SuperBowl/National Championship :)

Maybe I just need a copy of Madden for dummies.. lol :)

Madden; not really that it is more complicated, but simply that there is a lot more to learn. CoD is a standard shooter, and nothing new to learn here.
