When I looked throught the monitor options, I saw Vertical Moire adjustment and Horizontal Moire adjustment. The manual doesn't explain it. What is it?

Moire is a "screen-like" pattern that can crop up on your display at certain resolutions/refreshes while displaying certain colors or patterns.

What is "Moire" ?
Moire refers to an interference pattern of dark wavy lines on the screen. It is not a defect, but rather an interference phenomenon caused by the relationship between the phosphor layout and the imaging signal. Moire is often an indication of a good focus level. Moire is particularly noticeable when using a light-gray pattern background.

Although moire cannot be eliminated completely, it can be reduced with the moire reduction feature on some high-end monitors.

Cool! I got some of those wavy lines out of my shadow-mask monitor.:) When its a white screen you can see some fuzzyness though.

The moire adjustment limits the video bandwidth and makes the picture slightly fuzzier to reduce diffraction effects between the phosphors and electron beams. It's not as detrimental as regular focus because it doesn't affect the size of the electron beam spot. If the monitor maker does a really good job of limiting the bandwidth, with a nice, smooth roll-off at high frequencies instead of a peaky one, moire is usually less of a problem.
