Autopsy report reveals death by strangulation.

Which is no surprise as a gunshot wound or stabbing would have been immediately apparent.

Also, Laundrie never went to that nature preserve. They're wasting their time. Why would he provide his actual destination to his family when he was obviously fleeing authorities? Survival experts say there is zero chance he could survive there for more than a few days.

My guess. After draining two of Petito's bank accounts, he put on a baseball hat and some dark glasses, hopped a greyhound, and has long since crossed the Mexican border.

To provide some closure on this case, I'll link this:

Laundrie's family attorney released 8 pages recovered from Laundrie's notebook. In those pages, he admits to killing Petito.

I really don't give a fuck until concern is expressed for more cases like this...

That case was solved.

The teen ran away after being beaten and stabbed by her mother, and later was found safe in NYC.

That case had plenty of national coverage, considering that, unlike the Petito case, there was no body.

I glad she was found but her case had nowhere near the coverage of Gabby Petito. I don't remember it but I could be wrong.

It may not have had the same amount of coverage, but Petito was confirmed dead when her case hit the media. A missing teen will not garner the same amount of coverage, but hers did get quite a bit.

My OP examples disagree with you

Natalee Halloway and Laci Peterson.

NH was another case that was covered 24x7 and she was a missing teen

What do Natalee Halloway, Laci Peterson, and Gabby Petito have in common besides just being white? Or for that matter, you can add Amanda Knox to that, even though she was not dead or missing, but accused of murder. And if we're on the subject of actual or suspected murderers, we can add Casey Anthony and Jodi Arias to that.

They're all attractive, that's what.

Like this girl:

Of whom you can find about 2 dozen photos just by clicking the image tab after a google search, in addition to all the news stories.

There's also Vanessa Guillen, who was Hispanic. And attractive. And got lots of national coverage.

Thousands of teen girls and young women go missing every year. A handful get national press coverage. It's pretty clear what the most important criteria is. If race is a factor, I posit it is mainly due to the fact that our beauty standard leans caucasion, though I think that has been changing in recent years.

There are many other factors, of course. Anything involving Americans in a foreign country (Halloway, Knox). Anything that involves the military (Guillen). The known killer is an active fugitive (Petito). Gender (women get more coverage than men.) Age (child victims over adult victims). And many others.

A phrase coined by the late Gwen Ifill. Unbalanced nationwide media coverage when a perceived pretty white girl goes missing. We went through the same thing with the unending coverage of Natalee Holloway and Laci Peterson.

Meanwhile we've had no national coverage of the following...
Over 50 Black girls missing from New York, New Jersey, report finds (yahoo.com)

Missing Hawaiian girl
Fears for missing Hawaii girl, 6, whose adoptive parents last saw her in bed four nights ago | The Independent

Missing Asian woman
Who is Lauren Cho? Missing Woman's Media Coverage Compared to Gabby Petito Sparks Debate (msn.com)

Missing native american woman
FBI offers $10,000 reward for information on the disappearance of Native American woman - CNN

Want to know what this country cares about? See the unending coverage of Gabby Petito and thousands of Haitians on the border in Texas.
Only a racist is going to complain when someone goes missing due to the victims race.

There is no nation that will lack bias. Because that is an inherently human trait.
Working to counter it, to help people, is one thing. Good and wholesome.
Pretending America alone is a problem.... that's where you become part of the problem.

AmeriKKKa claims to be the land of the free. Its history of treating POC tells a different story. It's been a fraud since its founding and will always be one.

It's like the issue with guns. They claim it's everyone's right to carry but tell that to

Philano Castilo legally carrying and informed police, killed
Tamir Rice. Carrying a toy gun in a legal carry state, killed
Jemel Roberson. Black security guard working and detaining a perp. Police show up and kill the first black man they saw, Jemel.

Good guy with a gun doesn't apply while black

When News Editors are doling out assignments or deciding which story gets top position on a news website or is aired first on a newscast, this usually decides the impression a story makes on the reading or viewing public.

Look at your news editors and news producers - those are the ones who determine what's important and what's not.

With much of the news centered on celebrities and their antics, which generate the most interest and the most clicks, I doubt things will change.

That history you so revile, includes a civil war that freed POC from slavery. The Union is not a fraud if it stands for something better than it is. If it strives to be better and has taken steps to do so. These issues and challenges are in no way unique to America. To paint them as such, is to misunderstand human nature and to delve more towards hatred than a deeper understanding from which a constructive solution may be found. While I welcome solutions to these problems, it'll just be more difficult if we skip over the nature of why POC are treated badly.

Fact is, anyone "other" would be. If everyone were White, racism, mistreatment, and hatred would still exist. The idea of an inherent bias stemming from any majority to any minority is accurate. From this root we must educate our people against old tropes of "us VS them". Yet... our politics devolves into almost only that. It is a trap, and your words hearken strongly towards it.
