In all seriousness.

If you nef in my thread I will hunt you and kill you like the dog that you are. Go away nefs or suffer the wrath of the ever banned, unafraid sockless ATOT punchmonkey.

I'm at a pivotal point in my relationship with someone.

What is love, to you? How do I know love?

I really don't think you can put it into words... I mean.. love is just so many things, it takes so many forms..

I wouldn't even know where to begin.

I guess I'm asking for your own experience. What is love to you?

Hmm... Unconditional devotion?

Those are the words that came to mind at that moment.

I have unconditional devotion to many people in my life, though. I would do anything for many people in my life, but it's not romantic love, per se. On a romantic level is what I'm fishing for...

Ohhh soo easy to nef, must show restraint

Love is something that you'll just feel for someone. You think about them when they're not around, and it hurts if they're gone for a significant ammount of time. You can tell them anything and they can share anything with you. It's not really possible to explain what love is more than that. Through my personal experiences that's the best I can do to describe it. There's about 40,000 other things that accompany it, but they're things that you just know.

Oh, and if you would put your who-who-dilly in another womans cha-cha other than your current GF, given the chance, then you don't love her. :Q

Ahh.. Very true.

Hmmm.. I dunno. I'm sure someone else can come up with some words. I can't think of any for the feelings involved.

Thanks for your perspective. On the last note I think many men would have issues with, but I respect it. :)

I'm sure they would, but one of the things I equate with love is fidelity. If you can't keep yourself from sleepoing around on someone you love, then you don't love them. Case in point, a few girlfriends ago I was absolutely in love with this one girl. The opportunity arose at a party that I was rather inebriated at to sleep with a different woman, one that I had wanted to get with for years (I made moves, she didn't reciprocate, but I at least made the attempt). She was sober enough to make her own decision, and she decided that her goal that night was to get me into bed. I didn't even think twice about saying no I've got someone I'm with right now so I can't do this. I think there are a lot of people out there that don't truely love their partners. I'd equate it more with an infatuation than true love.

I like the Howard Jones song...

I love you whether or not you love me
I love you even if you think I don?t
Sometimes I find you doubt my love for you
But I don?t mind
Why should I mind, Why should I mind

What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway

Can anybody love anyone so much that they will never fear
Never worry never be sad
The answer is they cannot love this much nobody can
This is why I don?t mind you doubting

What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway

And maybe love is letting people be just what they want to be
The door always must be left unlocked
To love when circumstance may lead someone away from you
And not to spend the time just doubting

What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway
What is love anyway, does anybody Love anybody anyway

Love is pain. You can only be hurt by something you love, and if you don't love anything, you can't be hurt.

Love is a physical, meaning biological, state or process which has the purpose to increase the chances that you will mate, reproduce, and stay long enough that you will contribute to the success of your offspring.

Love is a trick nature plays on people to get them to reproduce.

Really though, I'd say that it's when you think about that person all the time when they're not around, and I also agree with TheGrandCow about fidelity. It's when you have more fun when you're hanging out with her than when you're with another group of people. It's when you can't see any faults in that person, and when you do (because everyone has faults), it feels kind of weird b/c you weren't expecting it (i dunno if that made sense). It's when you would be crushed if you found out she was sleeping with someone else. Hurt because she was cheating on you, but also because you don't want to lose her.

That's what I think, some of it's from what I feel about my GF, other parts are just my thoughts. Hope it made sense.

yes. In part it's an evolved mechanism to stimulate mating. The other part (the clingy part) is about the need for companionship in a social sense. That is sort of a risk averse situation where people are simply together because they have been, and they've found the arrangement conducive to happiness.

You can't be told you are in love, you just know. No one can tell you the signs that show you're in love, it's up to you to just know.

i would say i dont really know what love is. however the most pure expression of love is sacrificing yourself for another. not nessacerly your life, but yourself in other ways. giving up your time and comfort ect. with this definition of love, i find that many societal traditions ( giving up your seat to others, holding the door for others ect ) are an expression of love. :)
