power= voltage source
ground=ground (I assume it's a lighted rocker switch)
load=output of the switch

Just get crimp-type Scotch Loks at the auto parts store and hook power up to a wire coming off the fuse that says ACC. That way it'll turn itself off when the car is shut down.

to do that would severely hurt the power supply of the computer over time. eventually it'll cause damage. i think it would be better to just add an on button, and a rocker switch to turn on the inverter. that way, when i want to turn off the computer, i just hit the off button, it'll turn off real quick, then turn off the inverter.

Laptop or desktop? If it's a laptop, it should have a battery. :) If it's a desktop... wtf?

Sounds unnecessarily complicated.

funny? kind of.

informative? not at all :p

Actually, it's informative in that "if you need to ask, maybe you shouldn't mess with it" kind of way.

But it's not that difficult. It's a lighted switch, so it needs to be hooked up in a certain way, of else it won't work as ecpected.

A normal switch is either open or closed, and only has two pins. Theoretically, it doesn't matter which wire is hooked up to which side.

But a lighted switch needs that ground pin because it has its own load inside, ie, the light bulb. The light bulb needs to ground just like the load that you're controlling with the switch. If you hook it up wrong, one of two things will happen: The light bulb will remain lit at all times; or you'll send the entire load that you're trying to switch through the tiny light bulb, and burn it out.
