Inspired by this thread

I am curently taking 12 credits and working about 45 hours a week between two jobs... One of which is an inteirnship with a rediculous record of placing its inteirns after graduation into freaking rediculous positions in corperate IT... I met a guy I had never seen before this morning in the break room and he whispered to me that I should get in touch with the last inteirn if I know what's good for me.... "that that would almost be a 75k/year gaurentee once I got out of here".... and that's not even my only game in town

I just can't imagine what it must be like to be a homeowner, go to work, go to grad school at night and mabye have a live in s/o (gf/fiance/wife, w/e)....

I think to sum it up.. it's the G35 in the sub-division lifestyle that so many on this forum seem to live.... what's it like? what bothers you? what drives you? what inspires you? what do you live for? do you all have kids or wives? those of you who don't, what do you do with yourself?

You learn that having an excess of expendible cash is great...but having to be into work at 8:00AM M-F really ruins what you can do with it.

:(

I loathe the 8 hour work day.

I make pretty decent money for my age and I am considering keeping my job and going to grad school at night but I agree with vi_edit that its just money and you really miss out on the flexibility of the college lifestyle.

But then again, one always wants what one currently doesn't have.

ok lets see......the first 3 months on the job you are full of energy and excitement about the outlook for your life. This quickly fades along with the novelty of being at a real world job....as the monotony of your day to day life begins to become overbearing...Waking up in the morning becomes harder, the paychecks become less ....ummm extravegant as they once seemed. The 2 weeks vacation is a grim reminder of what your life has been reduced to. You are now a corporate slave. Your only glimpse of happiness comes in small forms such as good buffalo wings.....a drunken friday night...getting to sleep in on a sunday. Soon you spiral into a depression when you realize that its been almost a year in the real world and your dating life sucks, your boss is pissed your projject is late, you cant remember what you wanted out of life and those goddamn bills never stop!

ok someone else take it from here this is all i know so far.

I think you overestimate the number of people in these forums making good money and owning a G35, seriously. Granted, I'm one of them that certainly could fit in that group (G35 is a nice looking car), but alas, there aren't nearly as many as you think and it's not as glamorous and fruitful as you've imagined based on some of the clowns that post here.

If you want real numbers, make a two question poll in this thread. One asking who owns a G35 and one asking who likes their job. The numbers will be astoundingly different than what you've assumed.

Defining lifestyle with car != good method of achieving happiness.

Like I've told you before, keep your hobbies/interests, paycheck, and self-image seperate.

not what I'm talking about at all.... sorry for making the association. I could give a sh!t less about the car.... I'm curious what the people who are in those kinds of financial situations at our age deal with from a psychological standpoint when money isn't really their number one concern.

Your hair starts to turn gray, your balls hang a little lower down your leg each year and sex is something that happens by accident because you're too tired otherwise to engage yourself in it, it's too much work after working so hard. Retirement is the proverbial carrot hooked on the end of a long fishing pole strapped to your back and you always walk toward it but it never seems to get closer. One day you'll trip and fall and it will be close enough to touch, but some a$$hole will come along and say he owns half of that carrot and eat it in front of you out of spite.

You may want to find a better target audience than a bunch of disillusioned IT guys neffing from work (a.k.a ATOT). :)

And another thing you learn along the way -

That guy who drives the G35 and and wears all the latest designer clothes...he's usually one paycheck away from bankrupcy.
