What is it with some people?

I'm driving back from lunch today and I'm next to a big white pickup truck when the guy just starts moving over into my lane. Am I invisible? I watched him start coming over and laid on the horn just in time to get him to realize there was a car there and he veered back into his lane. I swear, there must have been nothing more than a pubic hairs width between his front fender and mine when he suddenly changed direction.

I had nowhere to go, I was in the left lane with a divider on my left. If I didn't lay on the horn he would have plowed right into me. I'm sorry I woke you up from your nap dude. :|

I was right fucking next to him. Door to door. :|

He just wasn't paying attention. Believe it or not, it does happen.

Happened to me the other day. Old Honda Accord just decided to take out my Grand Cherokee. I must have forgotten to turn off the cloaking device. You'd think they'd see the big nasty SUV right next to them.

Only difference was that this guy never did wake up. I had to slam on the brakes so he wouldn't hit me. He just went on his way, oblivious.

I did this to someone yesterday on I-95, he was in my blind spot, I looked but not far enough and I signaled and started to go into the lane and he blasted his horn to LMK he was there!. Boy I felt like an ass, can't remember the last time I've been that careless, kind of a wake up call, now I'm back to turning my head to check and not just relying on the mirrors..

I did this once a few months ago I must admit, my fault I didn't look over my shoulder after looking in the mirror. I was in left right trying to get into right though. Was a dumb move on my part and lady beeped at me -- least I learned, I now always look in mirror and over shoulder.

I remember my driver's ED teacher saying to us "Don't ever trust your mirrors", a lesson I had forgotten how important it was..

People are stupid. I see this behavior you explain far more, in fact, with people walking around at work or in isles of grocery stores. They are completely oblivious to the idea somebody might be there so they do things like, for example come out of an isle and walk left while talking to somebody to their right, not even contemplating the idea that they could be walking into somebody since, wow, there are actually other people in this store. Or they'll be walking down an isle and just stop dead center to think about what their name is again. People drive me nuts. Stuff like the above is why I know I am smarter than a lot of people because I don't do that. They are like damned cows being coraled to the guy with the bolt gun.

Glad I'm not the only one who notices this.

Back on topic. Maybe he was using what I've been referring to as a swerve signal. Basically it's when a person will move slightly over into your lane than back to theirs causing you back off because you aren't sure what the fuck they are doing. Then they make their lane change once you've back off, of course never using their turn signal. I saw it a lot this summer, not so much lately though.

Also, the way to correct this problem is to drive the biggest, fattest, fuckin car you can buy. When I test drove the 2009 Lincoln Nav L people were honestly getting out of the way. When you drive a small car everyone tries to squish you.

I'm scared riding my bike this summer, going to be super defensive and there's no way I'm riding on any lane but the far right lane on the highway.

there are stupid / inattentive drivers in every situation everywhere, everyday. It just makes you shake your head. There's a turn with 2 left-hand turn lanes. I was in the left and some chick in a sedan in the right. As we get the green to turn... yup, you guessed it... she proceeds to cut into my turning angle and into the left lane of the 2-lane road as if I was never there. Even if I weren't... how do you complete a turn like that thinking it's alright? What school did they go to? It's not like someone making a right turn and ending up in the left lane of the road (more common, undoubtedly). She knew I was there... we were stopped side-by-side at the same fricken light 2 seconds ago.

How about this one I see nearly everyday. There's a road ending with 1) opposite side traffic, 2) a left arrow turn lane, and 3) a right arrow turn lane. For some reason people can't seem to understand it's 3 lanes (2 for our side) and not just 2 (1 for each direction). Some people block the right arrow lane while waiting to make their lefts (watching for perpendicular traffic)... it's bad enough to want to honk these people to inch forward to allow room... but some people are actually sitting entirely in the RIGHT ARROW lane clearly marked on the floor trying to make their left turns. W - T - F. You can't even honk them cause you don't want to rush them into oncoming traffic. It's one thing to be slow at driving but it's another to be so fucking retarded you can't read the arrow on the floor.

I don't know what it is, but parking lots are the worst for this kind of complete oblivion. I was out for a ride on the motorcycle a couple days ago and almost got run over 4 different times in a parking lot as I was meeting friends for lunch.

My GF does this while I'm in the passenger seat. Bugs the fuck outta me. Even though she's had her license for a while...she barely just started driving. I think it's a combination of inexperience, lack of awareness to surroundings and kinda common sense.

This stuff happens to me every day, the part that really bugs me is when the left turn lane is all backed up like 13 cars so you get people that go to the front of the straight only lane and proceed to take a left and cut me off, this happens to me daily. At this point I know it's not because they don't know where they are going or that they are confused somehow, it's just the fact that they don't feel like waiting in line.

How about this one I see nearly everyday. There's a road ending with 1) opposite side traffic, 2) a left arrow turn lane, and 3) a right arrow turn lane. Similar to this but I think it's possibly worse. So you get to a stop light with no designated turn lanes, nothing marked, but there is room on the right shoulder because it's a city street and people park there. Some people at the light will wait in line and leave room on the right for people turning right even though there isn't a right turn lane. You get the people that go on the right shoulder to get to the front of the line of 20 cars or so and proceed to cut the person off next to them to go straight just because they don't want to wait in line like everyone else.

I think it all comes down to common courtesy and it turns out 95% of people out there don't have any when driving it's only a "me first" attitude because obviously there time is much more important than mine.

As douchebaggy as staying in someone's blind spot is, people need to learn to PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE THE FUCK THEY ARE GOING!
