I went to a birthday party for one of my son's friends yesterday. It was a bunch of 6 year old boys and girls and the kid's Mom held the party at a bowling alley here locally. I haven't gone bowling in quite a while so I was actually looking forward to this because bowling is actually kind of fun and this was different than your typical 6 year old birthday party.

Anyway, it's mostly women with their kids but there is one other father and this guy spent the entire two hours sitting by himself at a table above the lanes. Jeez dude, have a little fun. Some of the women were fairly attractive so I was just enjoying their company and had a good time. I didn't know anyone except the Mom of the birthday boy and I had a good time.

BTW-My wife was holding an open house so she couldn't go...in case anyone was wondering.
Was it open bowling for all the kids and the parents?

Yes, it was.

God, the pathetic desperation for pics in every damn thread these days is pretty tedious. Join 4chan or something.

My fiancee is practically forcing me to go to one of her friend's daughter's birthday party in a few weeks. It falls on a Sunday...football sunday. The girl is turning 2 years old. I really dont want to go to this thing; for one, I barely know the mother (my fiancee's friend), and secondly, why is it expected that I should go to something like this?

Do you think I am being unreasonable in my reluctantcy to go? It's one thing if we have children, and it's our son's/daughter's friend, and it's another thing if this mother is a close friend mutually. But we dont have kids, and I barely know this woman.

I don't see why you should go

Don't go - put your foot down now and start preparing her for marriage.

This is not even debatable. Imagine if instead of watching the hilarious meltdown of the Clowns yesterday, you had to go to a knitting party. I'd lay down the law now while your balls are still your own.

And if that doesn't work you could just sneak out the back door and I'll run you up to the bar to watch the game 😀

Blame your "Cold" on the recent 20 degree temperature drop. You would be forced to sip chicken noodle soup while you reluctantly sit in front of the TV and football happens to be on.

Some people are introverted, maybe you shouldn't deride them for it.

I'm like this.

Sometimes I have a really hard time holding up an interesting conversation with people. I don't know why but it's very hard for me to come out of my shell. There are times I prefer solitude.

Nope, you're not being unreasonable. Not that that fact will help you any in this situation.
