What is it with some guys?

I went to a birthday party for one of my son's friends yesterday. It was a bunch of 6 year old boys and girls and the kid's Mom held the party at a bowling alley here locally. I haven't gone bowling in quite a while so I was actually looking forward to this because bowling is actually kind of fun and this was different than your typical 6 year old birthday party.

Anyway, it's mostly women with their kids but there is one other father and this guy spent the entire two hours sitting by himself at a table above the lanes. Jeez dude, have a little fun. Some of the women were fairly attractive so I was just enjoying their company and had a good time. I didn't know anyone except the Mom of the birthday boy and I had a good time.

BTW-My wife was holding an open house so she couldn't go...in case anyone was wondering.

You're just "one of the girls" and he isn't I suppose.

My fiancee is practically forcing me to go to one of her friend's daughter's birthday party in a few weeks. It falls on a Sunday...football sunday. The girl is turning 2 years old. I really dont want to go to this thing; for one, I barely know the mother (my fiancee's friend), and secondly, why is it expected that I should go to something like this?

Do you think I am being unreasonable in my reluctantcy to go? It's one thing if we have children, and it's our son's/daughter's friend, and it's another thing if this mother is a close friend mutually. But we dont have kids, and I barely know this woman.

Why does she want you to go? 😕

I don't think my wife ever dragged me to crap like that before we were married...well, with the exception of her immediate family and their birthdays.

I wouldve done the same. Screaming and pissing little kids and wary eyes parents that are itching to sue you if you even look at their kids wrong. Drink and watch some tv in peace.

I guess.

I'm certainly not intimidated by women anyway. 😉

Sue you for what? 😕

Maybe the other father just wanted to masturbate in peace. Can't you have a little consideration for him and his feelings?

Maybe he doesn't like bowling. Maybe he doesn't like hordes of screaming 6 year olds. Maybe he's shy. Who are you to judge?

I detect your sarcasm, but you still don't get it. No one was intimidated by them, he just wanted to be left the fuck alone.

Lots of bowling allies have beer available. Still, no screaming 6 year olds > bowling.

I lol'd. My allies only provide guns, ammunition and war planes. I find this...disappointing. 🙂

ive been in both situations. usually ill join in, have fun with the kids and be social. a couple of parties, i got the "vibe" and sat on the sidelines. a lot of the kids parents at the school my kids are in are fairly rich, as well as vindictive/ snobbish. those parties are great for the kids since they spend a small fortune on them, but they tend to see me as an "outsider" since i wear what is comfy to me (cargo shorts and a t shirt) instead of the full designer get ups they show up to a kids party in. im a bit glad my kids are now 11 and older, so i dont really run into that much anymore. and i prefer hanging with a bunch of kids having fun than sitting alone drinking beer.
