What is it with Shakira's voice?

Scarpozzi

Lifer
Ya know like the only song she'll ever REALLY be known for...."Whenever, Wherever"
When she says, "I'll be near" her voice just sounds sexy to me for some reason. I think it's the whole accent thing because I've spoken with quite a few Spanish-speaking honeys in my day...(at work though) Any thoughts?

That's the one part of the song where her voice sounds like crud, IMO. It's all nasal and tight-sounding, like she's trying to sing with her head tilted all the way to one side.

Is it just me or does she also have the times when her voice sounds like that of a pre-pubescent boy? It's cracking all over the place, eek! I'll pass.

<< She's all looks. Her voice is suited for spanish phone sex...IMO >>

She's all voice....she's been singing she was 14 and she looked like crap until recently when she lost all her baby fat 🙂

Remember, she was *huge* in the Spanish world long before you'd heard of her

She was actually really really big in the Spanish market before her English hit.

i think the correct question is "what is with shakira's lyrics?"

seriously, listen closely. none of it even relates to anything. shes fun to watch tho

THAT'S IT!!! That's exactly what I was talking about. It just sounds sexy to me. I agree though, this is one of those songs that's dying pretty quickly and is only popular cause of who sings it/who designed it.(the person with real talent)

OMG! I thought I was the only one who noticed that. Ya, it sounds really sexy, and I thought it was done by a computer before but im not sure...

And she'll most likely continue to be very prominent in the Latin world far after. It's amazing how ego centric Americans are about our pop culture; that because something was played out in the US, means that they've dipped off the face of the earth.

There's an unbelievable diverse world of music out there... Korean pop music is so awesome, for example. Great singing, pretty women... just gotta look a little harder than the Fred Meyer or Target shelves.

Amen to that....
Good lord, I would muhc rather listen to her than that Spears chick.
As for the lyrics, I think the funniest line has to be the one about her breast being small and humble so you won't confuse them with mountains, rofl, wtf? And from the looks of it she has nice size hoo-haa's or maybe it's tissues?
Either way gimme a music video with Christina Aguillerajddjfhdf (however the hell you spell it) Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira and I will be happy....I won't, however, promise not to hit the MUTE button....

Whenever Wherever is crappiest sounding song ever. However, download Suerte (spanish version of it), and you will see what a great voice she actually has. It sounds so much better in spanish, nearly a completely different sound. And yes... she is a goddess.

Yea..Shakira is awesome. You should check her latin album..."Donde estan los ladrones?" or her mtv unplugged CD. Both are in spanish but they are so good even though I can't understand a word of it. Ten times better than her current english album IMHO. You can check some samples out here at cdnow.com

The album cover shows her with her natural black hair...looks better with dark hair...wish she didn't change her hair or her music that much.

i so know what youre talking about... i dig.. i dig very much... and i fairly sure that's not a voice effect either.. apart from the normal reverb and compression that's used on all songs.... but yeah... it's mad sexy sounding...

It is almost like what you do when you yodel it seems. Just a little contortion of the throat is all it takes. She does that sort of thing in a lot of her other songs - I bought the CD. Not in the least disappointed either.
