Some of my co-workers returned from the Philippines and brought back some "treats." God this stuff tastes like ass. I'm choking on a cookie called Goldilocks Signature Classic Polvoron it tastes slightly sweet with a texture that is best described as crumbled dry paste.

if i remember correctly, in the Asian countries they have two type of candies: one for the locals which is made with natural ingredients, no preservatives, no artificial colorings. then there's the export quality made for visitors and Americans that consists of ass and dry paste.

It's true that many Asian "candies" aren't as sweet as Westerners are used to. Case in point: red bean paste.

Stupid to group all Asian candy together. Korean and Japanese candy can be awesome. Filipino candy, not so much.

I had a Burmese friend growing up, and his parents used to get all kinds of interesting treats. I don't know what any of it was, but I thought they were tasty. My favorite was salted, dried fruit. It would make your mouth pucker, but was very addictive.

Asian candy is too broad but I will say that Japanese junk food pwns all. The issue I actually have with most western candy is lack of variety.

Asian? Does this mean Indian? Chinese? Iranian? Russian?

Asia is a big continent. Be more specific.

Kasugai Gummies are fantastic. And you have to love Japanese advertising.

I miss the chinese white rabbit candy. Banned due to kids dying from the chemicals or something.

why you said Asian as a whole when you specified the ones you had are from the Philippines.

it's like, i drove a pinto and all American cars are utter POS.

Goldilocks is one of the premier bakeries in the PI.

They have locations also in CA & NV and maybe elsewhere

People will drive an hour or more to eat at their table and purchase baked goods.
