What is it about cars?

I went home last weekend to get a new car to replace my "Gutless" Supreme with the bad transmission. It's normally 5.5 hours of drudgery. However, driving back my '98 Toyota Avalon made the 5.5 hours far too short. :D Now, all I want to do is drive someplace. Yesterday, I went to a grocery store to get some chow. I went 15 miles out of my way on the highway to do it. ;)

Once I get my stereo stuff installed, driving will be like sitting in my living room. Except that I don't have leather couches in my living room. ;) Right now, any kind of driving seems like it'd be fun.

I think my problem is having almost 600lbs of torque and the only pedal I get to use lately is my friggin brake :|

Sounds cool though, are you getting an MP3 deck? or something even more fancy yet?

Nah, I just have my old stereo gear from the Cutlass. Alpine deck and over 1000 watts of power going to waste. :(

Yeah, it is always nice to drive from Colorado Springs up to Denver - NOT. I wish they had a train system here.

I enjoy driving in my 89 Cavalier, but I can definitely see how having a better, faster, more comfortable car would make driving that much more enjoyable.

Ah, but I never enjoyed driving my Cutlass. ;) No power and it was loud as hell on the inside from road noise. The windows didn't roll down and water leaked through the back windshield.

wow, yeah, that'll work.. mine is still the stock deck untill they come out with a nice DIN 1.5 unit... hate those cheesy dash kits for the GM and Mopar replacements

The Pioneer ones are pretty decent. link They don't really have all the bells and whistles that other decks have, but they certainly look better in a 1.5 DIN opening than a kit.

i need a new car also. My 1990 Mazda Protege is not very good on the highway. Enging rev at 4000 RPM @75MPH. Man, it's loud. That's a 4 hrs drive on I-81 to home.

The feeling will wear off eventually ;)
Anyway, I don't know what it is about cars.
I told myself I wouldn't waste money on a car, that I would use a bike, the bus, and the subway to get around while I'm in college. That I wouldn't be just another lazy smuck creating yet more congestion. So far I've been doing that, btw I live in Montreal. But, my friends live far away from me now as people move, and the bus sucks for long distance. Plus, I really like driving. I just started learning recently and I really love driving arounds. Neighbourhoods that I would hate to visit on the bus or bike because it was so inconvenient were so nice to drive around. Now I can't wait to get a car and join the rest of you lazy smucks that drive 500 feet to a convenience store :Q At least till the feeling of having my first car wears off :)

I used to drive for the shear enjoyment. I stoped most of it tho when I got my new truck. Something about spending 25 cents a mile for gas.

Soon as I toss the new clutch in my Zuk, back out I go :)

Glad to hear you enjoy it.

Laust: Find an empty road to use those 600 lb feet :)

You know your right, I used to hate driving but since I got my 1980 Mercedes 450SL I love driving now. I will usually go places for the hell of it if someone asks me. I dont go no where just for the hell of driving though since I get about 14mpg and use premium, he he. Driving is so much fun now especially with the convertable top down :)
