I'm doing research on online communities, and I'd like to know the thoughts and experiences of the AnandTech Forums members. Your answers may apply to the AnandTech Forums, or any other online communities (forums, BBS's, chatrooms, MUDs) that you partake in. Just two questions:

1) What is the most important part of the forums to you? In other words, what is the thing that keeps you coming back over and over, and that you value the most?

2) Do you consider the forums a "community"? If so, what makes it a community, and not just a collection of expressions by individuals?

If you answer here, please understand that I may use your input in written or oral presentations of my findings.

I value not showing up one day and having everything all fruity colors with whacked out graphics and tiny fonts, along with reduced functionality and more cumbersome navigation above pretty much anything else here. Oh, wait a minute... nevermind.

I've learned a ton from these forums in a technical aspect. I try to help others the same way when I know something.

It's something to do... A place to just say stuff.... see how dumb other people are, try to help the truly helpless... leech knowledge off of the elite in the netoworking and video forums... I have specific names in mind, they just arent on the tip of my tounge...

The only purpose these forums serve anymore is to allow me to destroy others' hopes and dreams for the future. Case in point, freedomsbeatoff212, that little douche.

I come here because I learn a great deal; in fact, more than I think I've learned in most other places, including school. You can learn an immense amount on forums if you ask the right people.

Something new to read everytime i hit refresh...

Greatest source of general knowledge... which is totally random and useless most of the time yet still fun to read.
