*kat. <-- confused onto this.

As far as I know, all milk sold commercially in the United States is homogenized and pasteurized. [l=definition of homogenize[/l]

<< I call it "milk".

I call that other stuff (2%, 1%, nonfat, etc) "watered down crap".
>>

Same here. :) Whole milk is the only way to go.

LOL.. As others have said, all milk is homogenized..

My dad buys whole milk. Yuck. If I have to drink milk, I prefer skim...

I drink soy milk. :) After you drink soy milk for a while, and then taste regular grocery store milk, it tastes nasty. Tastes like, well.. cow.

Organic milk tastes much, much better...

You don't suppose anybody in the dairy industry benefited from being able to label milk as being 2% fat by volume, rather than 30%+ fat by calories, like all other food.. do you? :disgust:

Milk and cheese aren't good for you. Don't eat/drink it, you'll live longer.. Seriously. Do some reasearch. It wasn't until the 20s or 30s, and some heavy lobbying by Madison Ave. that dairy products were even considered necessary for life. Believe me, they aren't. Especially not with all the antibiotics and hormones they pump the cows full of now.

Grocery store milk = puss and chemicals. Yum. :Q

Got Osteoporosis? Don't drink milk, you'll make it worse.

The [american] dairy industry sickens me. :|

The Canadians are smart, they don't pump their cows full of toxic chemicals.

I'd stay faaaar away from that :)

Milk in bags?

It's too gay. Who knows if it made from gay cow. That's why it's called homo milk. :Q
For now, I'm happy with regular (whole) milk.
Got Milk?

We have the same thing in the Czech Republic. VERY annoying, it's sooooo much better to have it in plastic, I don't know why we have it in bags...
>>

Maybe it's in bags not only for lower cost, but also because the bag collapses as the milk is dispensed, and with lower surface area exposed to air, it remains fresher longer.

<< Homogenized milk is just whole or raw milk that has had the fat globules broken down so that they are slower to rise to the top to form a layer of cream.

Bingo!

When I was just a child the "Milkman" used to deliver milk to our house in "Glass Bottles". The cream would be at the top of the bottle.

Wow, you guys are YEARS behind in dairy technology! I used to live next a dairy in rural Pennsylvania, and even THEY stopped using bags in the mid-80's!

It's time to join the future, guys! If you bought your milk in those fancy new light-resistant plastic bottles, you can store it for another whole WEEK before it goes bad! :)
