Are you in NYC itself? North Jersey has a rock station that plays old school + new rock. 105.5 WDHA. I don't think it reaches into the city though.

They killed a lot of good stations in NYC lately. My favorite WLIR is now a Spanish music station and 101.1 has gone from 60-70s music to some strange mix of contemporary.

NOOOO!! I thought it was just a rumor when my friends told me... this sucks. I hate hip hop and pop. I want to kill Z100. Sigh.... well I say 94.1 is a pretty damn good replacement. It's the Philly rock station. They play about the same music as krock, maybe some more old school stuff. check it out

i LOVE oldies

What is 101.1 doing instead?

I haven't been in NY since 1988.

Its called Jack-FM now.. basically they just play pop music from the 80's, 90's and stuff. Its nothing special.

yea JackFM rules. I hadnt listened to music radio in years until i heard my wife listening to Jack and i was impressed. no annoying DJ's, less commercials, great mix of music.

So Jack replaced good oldies music with non-stop pop, no DJ's with personality and a smattering of the same commericials and music over and over again and this makes New Yorkers happy now???

Its a strange station..one moment you listen to a song by Michael Jackson, then Nirvana, then Queen..etc.. there is no real format. Its just comtemporary popular music from the 80's and on. Not sure if they play 70's stuff. There is no DJ either. Its some dude named "Jack" that just makes the occasional comment which is kinda nice as most DJ's on the radio are annoying as hell.

Lots of people still complain about missing the oldies but there is nothing you can do when it comes to free radio. Its best to just compile a personal collection of your favorite oldies and get a mp3 player or something. With K-Rock crapping out I only have JackFM and Q104 (a rock station) to listen to.

Thanks for the update even if it is sad.

so, NY experts: where do i get my rock music from in nyc now?!

104.3, obviously. You're probably too far south to get 101.5, that's in Poughkeepsie... but I dunno, maybe. It'd be a shame if you couldn't get both :(

i listen to 104.3 too, but it's all classic rock. i'm looking for a replacement for oldschool and modern rock.

94.3 and 102.3 are new to me. but my guess is that they are not a replacement for k-rock given that nobody else has mentioned them.

Well, 101.5 plays a little of both now, but again, you might be too far south. Barring that... listen to better music :p Seriously, this nu-metal stuff is absolute trash. There's some good music being made, but not much of it, and you'll hear only a tiny portion of it on the radio.
