PrimeGrid has problems: the project is up sometimes, down often, does not accept results just now - issues new WUs only now and then ... 🙁

Einstein@home has had a AC-failure in the computer room and the database server has crashed and the project server is down ... 🙁

Seti@home has difficulties uploading results - although the server-stats-page is all green (except for one spliter) ( I have more than 15 results waiting on 6 different computers) :Q 🙁

MalariaControl works OK
Predictor is working OK
Rosetta is working OK
Simap is working OK

So it is not my connection ...
 
I was wondering the same thing, and posted in the other forums about it. I'm crunching on DPAD in the mean time, and the crack rack is down for the moment... Is it a full moon?
 
Same here:

Ran out of SET WUs tongiht, can't upload my crunched ones ... had to attach to Rosetta again to keep one of my PCs busy :evil:

Same goes for Einstein. 10 to upload, 10 in the queue. LHC as a backup won't do me any good there, as it's out of work as well 🙁

Hehe, you can rant about CPDN as much as you want, but in that respect, it's the #1 of realiability. One download, 6 months of crunching 😉

If you need/want a new project to run as a secondary or a back-up, somebody has been working on a Comprehensive BOINC Project List. :evil:


If enough people are interested, or if I just get bored 😉, I might even do some research to find out the average processing time for work units on the projects as well as "expiration time" to give a good idea of which projects would be most appropriate as a backup to your normal project(s)... 🙂

Well, seeing account-creation is closed, it doesn't matter if their servers are up or not, they don't have any work anyway...


But anyway, CPDN continues to be a very reliable alternative, and http://attribution.cpdn.org/ having "only" 3-4 weeks large wu can be a good alternative if you meets the memory-requirements.

Of course, CPDN also demands a stable computer, there's many "stable" overclocked computers that craps-out in CPDN, showing the overclock wasn't really stable afterall... There's even some non-overclocked computers that craps-out, but works without problems when underclocked...
 
It appears that the issues at SETI has gone from bad to worse. Nearly everything is offline as of noon eastern. Here🙁

Good thing Bonic allows for multiple projects. 😀

 
There seems to be some TA involvement in the projects that are down. We do them for the month, and bad things happen. Do you think the VodKow might be invovled?
 
I don't really like it because I feel it is not complete, but I have climate running on almost all my machines as a backup. I have a dial-up connection, so am not able to connect as I would like to, so the backup has helped a lot.

Fardringle: I like the idea of average processing time and expiration date. Sounds like it would be very useful. I have noticed a project like Xtreme has a very short reply time, but also short WU times (about 9 min irrespective of PC, but then obviously credits affected) and it works nicely with the optimised BOINC.

This downtime has really been a pain. But is it not amazing how the number of projects has literally exploded in the last 6 months. The SAH clasic closed end last year, there where very few. I took my time moving over last year becasue there was just SETI and ALPHA plus. Now look!!!
 
Some word from the Seti camp. Whatever the issue, doesn't sound good.

The projects have been temporarily stopped in order to diagnose problems that have arisen with file upload handling. This outage will continue into our regularly scheduled maintenance outage today. We expect the projects to be restarted by 21:00 UTC. Data servers and web pages are offline until our maintenance is completed. Thank you for your patience.
 
Wow that's a real bummer that SETI is down! Most of my machines are on whatever TAS is running but I had a couple boxes on SETI as a backup choice as recently as a few weeks ago. But they are now all on QMC to try to keep us in the top spot there 🙂
 
I have pretty much every active project attached on my home computer so I can get average work unit times at least for my system (a Sempron running at 2.2 GHz). The numbers obviously won't translate exactly for other systems but it should give a reasonable idea of how long they should take to run on a decent computer. I'll try to put that together in the morning if I have time. It won't be organized well at first, but since there's an immediate "need" for the information I'll try to get it at least posted, then organize it later...
 
I'm not going to be able to add the work unit processing and expiration times until I get home in the morning, but I'm thinking about reorganizing the entire project list something like this so it's easier to read and find project information. I'll add individual project discriptions later. It will make the actual project list post much longer, but this format also makes it easier for me to include descriptions of the projects without messing up my previous list using columns..

I'm open to suggestions if you have a better way to do this, or if there's anything you would like me to add.

The list looks good. More than I thought of including. The only thing I can think of adding is the number of WU per day that can be downloaded. Xtreme is 200. On some of my machines QMC says 2, then it goes up again. Will this be any help?

That's a good idea. I don't think some of the projects even publish that information (they may not even have a limit?) but for the projects that have it available, I'll try to track the info down and add it to the list when I have time.
