What is furigana?

What is furigana? I know it has something do to with Japanese.

It's the "spelling out" of the Japanese kanji (characters) using their hiragana (alphabet) so that anyone who doesn't know what the japanese kanji is can at least pronounce it. Good for people learning japanese who have no idea what the japanese character says but know their hiragana.

McPhreak has it. And yes it makes it a hell of a lot easier to read kanji.
