What is "Folding"

I see all these threads about "Folding Boxes" What the hell is "Folding"? Do I want to fold too?

its referring to a process called protein folding, its basically medical research into why things fold or don't fold correctly

There are a lot of folding projects around the world, but that's probably the only public one. It sure as hell beats SETI when it comes to putting your spare calculations to good use.

Once stanford gets their hands on shiny new quantum computers however the whole project will probably be obsolete 🙂, but until then, it's good karma.

Rosetta@Home is similar to Folding@Home but the process is a little different. I read an explanation between the differences once, but i don't exactly remember it.
