What is DVD-A

dvd audio?
Its similar to SACD in that it has a very very high musical resolution, but it also can do multi channel audio
 
DVD-A is DVD-Audio, a new supposedly higher quality, encrypted and copy controlled format that record labels are trying to sell, but nobody is buying, because CD is just fine.

Dunno about that...DVD-A is picking up speed as well as SACD. Neil Young has been interviewed and his stance on the sound quality of CD vs. DVD-A is quite apparent 🙂

I am considering getting a Hercules GTXP soundcard.
Along with digital out..It has analog outputs for each individual channel.
Does anyone know if you can play DVD-A from a computer to a receiver with that

If you have a device with 6-channel inputs, you're all set. No digital copy-protection schemes to get in the way. Of course, not all devices have that 6-channel input. Besides, anyone wanting to cripple the quality of DVD-A by ripping to MP3 would be just as happy staying with CD.
