What is Dell's lower end quality like?

So I think I've figured out a good deal on a Vostro/monitor deal, which includes a deal with an 8600gt ($100 upgrade from onboard), a coupon, and possible monitor sale

But I don't have any experience with Vostros. I've been impressed all of the recent dell desktops I've come into contact with (more so than the few hp's I've seen), but those have been at the higher end Optiplex and XPS levels.

So, my questions are; will the Vostro be a good platform to add another couple of gigs of ram, another hard drive, a dvd burner, and keep the 8600gt? Will it be loud? Will the power supply strong enough? Or will it short out on me under that load?

Dell PSUs are generally underrated, it'll do fine, don't know if it'll be loud though.

And look here if you'd like to get some extra performance out of whatever CPU you're getting with it.
