what is D-sub and DVI ?

Whats difference between d-sub and dvi ? and what exactly they are used for ?

if you have a better suggestion for the card and monitor..please let me know.. ...better doesnt have to be expensive but suiting more to my need...which is basically dual monitor setup ...game sometimes..code a lot ( app server, photoshop, flash etc )

d-sub is the old analog vga technology. I would not buy a LCD monitor without a DVI connector.
