what is considered having a good life when you're 18/19 years old? realistically...

skim milk

you just graduated from high school... beginning of a new life at a university.
i guess a good life during this age is getting good grades in all your courses, having lot of friends to chill with, having a girlfriend to "experiment" with, not working, knowing what direction you want to head in your future, going party/clubbing every weekend, etc......

damn i'm missing a lot of those criterions.

Not a bad start. I'd add having a good relationship with your parents and siblings in there, but that's me.

I was working full time, had a nice apartment, several vehicles...

now I'm 19 (almost 20) and I'm in the Navy, making 1/4 of what I made on the outside, and I go to school full time, but get paid for it, get a place to live, food to eat, clothes to wear M-F...

& a decent computer (beginning to accumulate new stuff... 😉)

it's all about what you do with it...

Are you assuming that most people who graduate from high school go to "university"?

They don't.

Most people do other things.

If everybody had a sheepskin we would all be working the night shift at Mickey D's.

good life? when you haven't yet full-fledgedly entered the workforce? psh. you already have a good life, if you're fortunate enough to be going to college and have good parents.

a girlfriend is not a necessity, partying/clubbing is not a necessity, lots of friends is not a necessity.

in fact, a lot of the couples around me, I actually pity, because I know all they're in for is a temporary high and then they're going to break up amidst heartbreak and emotional pain that will stay with them. clubbing and partying isn't all its cracked up to be, and its far better to have two/three close friends, than to have 50 acquaintances.

getting good grades in all your courses - check.
having lot of friends to chill with - check. not a LOT, but the ones that mean a lot to me.
having a girlfriend to "experiment" with - check. fooling around count?
not working - 🙁 I work, but I get the $.
knowing what direction you want to head in your future - check. engineering 😉
going party/clubbing every weekend - check.

regardless, i think it's pretty sweet. Only thing you're missing is you have to live at a co-ed dorm... that's about it! 😀
