What is better

OK so in my machine I have 1 1ghz stick of OCZ OC2 8500 spd RAM and 2 1ghz sticks of OC PC 800.
Right now the RAM collectively is only running at 333mhz. If I get rid of the PC2 8500 RAM would I be able get 400mhz out of the remaining 2 sticks?
If so, would that be faster than having 3 gigs at 333mhz?

I'm sure you know how to do it since you overclock. Unlink the cpu & ram, up vdimm, set ram to 400mhz. Do memtest. Personally, I'd get rid of the slow stick and o/c the hell out of the 8500.

thanks, that is what I was hoping to hear. I just cant shake the feeling that by not taking advantage if the dual channel option I am missing out on performance.
I think I am just going to play some PC gams and enjoy my machine rather than being so damn nit picky about it.
either way, thanks for the replies fellas.
