What's your budget?

IBM and Dell have some of the best 15" screens.

However I'm in LOVE with my Compaq Presario 1500T's beautiful 15.0" SXGA display, I think it does 1400x1050?

That's an easy question: IBM ThinkPad A31p

2.0 GHz P-IV M
64MB ATI Fire GL 7800
256/1024 Std/Max RAM
60GB 5400 RPM HDD (Most laptop drives are 4200 RPM)
16x/10x/24x/8x CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive
1600x1200 15" display with wide viewing angle
Ports: IEEE 1394 ("firewire"), Infrared, Headphone/Line out, AC adapter jack, 2 Universal Serial Bus (USB), UltraPort Connector, Serial, S-Video out, S-Video in, RJ-45, RJ-11, Parallel, Microphone, Line in, Parallel.

ZV

EDIT: IBM also has the best service and support I have ever dealt with. It's practically a no-brainer. Plus, IBM has the sturdiest chassis of any laptop I've ever used. Almost like typing at a desktop.

Ok one last question. There are two kinds of the best,
1) The fastest laptop with the newest graphics card and best screen, a desktop replacement BUT this laptop is VERY HEAVY and VERY BULKY.
2) Fast but not the fastest, lightweight under 5 pounds, sleek, very portable.

IMHO, IBM makes the best laptops out there. Sure they are expensive. And they don't have always have bleeding edge specs. But design and craftsmanship are very important in laptops and nobody beats IBM in those areas.

I'm like Rossman and bought a Compaq 1500T customized to my specs. The best part about it is the 32MB ATI graphics card, I can still play games. However, Compaq's service seriously sucks. My laptop has been in their factory for almost 3 weeks because the motherboard blew up not once, but TWICE. And this thing is only 90 days old! I always get the runaround when I call Compaq, too.

Knowing what Corporate Exec's are like (I used to support them), I would not discount service quality. For that reason, the ONLY laptop I would recommend would be IBM.
