I always thought Panasonic made the best phones but according to goodhouse institute #1 is VTECH model that costs $180 #2 Uniden for $160. The worse phone is GE

I would avoid Panasonic. I've had two cordless phones from the, both were complete crap and stopped working. The first one was a 900Mhz analog (I think), the second was a very expensiev 2nd gen 2.4Ghz. It would buzz horribly for a long time, eventually it just stopped working all together.

Now I'm using one of Sony's higher end 2.4Ghz cordless models, it's been excellent. Only complaint is the hand set is a bit large.

Panasonic USED to make good phones, but it seems those days have ended. I have also had two Panasonic phones die on me in the past year or so. Both cordless (900 & 2.4Ghz).

what is the point of having a 2.4 ghz phone? does it reach all the way across the state or something? can anyone give me an estimate of how far the phone can reach? possibly a foot ball length away?

That's a good question, plus some 2.4 GHz cordless phones get interference from microwave ovens and WiFi.

My Panasonic (analog) 900 MHz is really clear, the base is in the basement yet I can talk upstairs, in the front yard, on the street, in the backyard, so it works great for me. Plus the phone was really cheap from Staples.com after coupon and rebate with FREE shipping.
