What is ASPI?

I did a search on ASPI and, somehow it's related to SCSI CD-ROM drives.

I downloaded Creative Labs' DVD Player, and it includes a program that updates the ASPI for windows 98/NT, made by Adaptec.

Since I'm using a Pioneer SCSI DVD, I'm wondering if the program will improve my DVD playback.

Does anyone know?

Adaptec SCSI P... Interface. It's something that lets your OS communicate with your SCSI hardware, but I've most commonly seen it with cd-r/w's. Like in windows 2000 you have to go to the Adaptec website and install an ASPI layer before you can burn a CD. No, I don't *think* it will improve your DVD playback.

Close but not quite.

Advanced SCSI Programming Interface.

It's an interface spec developed by Adaptec for sending commands to a SCSI host adapter, which has become the industry standard for programmers writting applications and drivers that work with all ASPI compatible SCSI adapters.

It may improve your performance but I'd be surprised if we were talking more then 2 or 3 percent.
