I know nothing about speakers. I need to be able to adjust the volume on one of the speakers because my new keyboard doesn't have the up and down. I'm not looking for anything special just 2 speakers really. I'd like to stay under $25 if I could but am open to sets upto $50. What would you all recommend?

altec lansing 45.2's. run around 40 bucks on pricewatch. nice big wooden sub, very loud and can reproduce bass well.

certainly not "audiophile" quality (if such a beast exists with computer speakers) but they've served me as well as several of my friends very well.

Labtec Pulse 424. For $49.99 , you will be surprised as to what you get. Go audition it

I second the Labtec suggestion. I have the "predecessor" to this set (LCS-2422). It's the same speakers/amp, just in a prettier, newer-styled package. For the money, you can't beat them. They play very loudly for their size/wattage rating. Good luck.

Out of the two which would you guys get. The Altec Lansing AVS500 Multimedia 5 Piece Speaker System ($60) or These ($40)?

I'm running Altec Lansing's ACS56, and I'm happy with them, I'd take the Altec's, but that's because I'm satisfied with their products.

I have Altec 45.2....got them for about $45 at Best Buy.
I love them. I'm amazed at the sound for that price. Whenever I go to a computer store I'll always check out speakers. Altecs really compare well. Especially the clarity.
And that price includes a subwoofer. Place the speakers properly and I promise you, you'll be impressed.
