What Is An m4v file?

I had some m4v files sent to me that I want to burn to DVD and watch on the TV. What are m4v files, and can they be burned to disc?

M4V is Apple's variation of MP4 files. If the video files were purchased from iTunes, then you probably won't be able to burn them to a disc since they will have DRM restrictions. If the person who sent you the files created them from their own DVDs, there are many options for converting them to a format that can be used in a DVD player.
