hi,

thanks for all the note on IDE vs. EIDE.

i have a Pentium 3, 500 Mhz, 256MB RAM running on win xp (pro ed) and i want to add a second hard drive. so far, i know that i have an empty 5 1/4 drive bay but i don't see any available jumper cable slot on my IBM aptiva PC. i know i need a mounting bracket to fit a 3 1/2 drive into this bay what i am still stucked with the how-do-i-go-from-here question.

1) where can i find some easy guide to set it up?
2) is Western Digital better than Maxtor/Seagate/IBM?
3) what is a cheap online store to get the HD

thanks for all the help!

If you look at the cable connecting from your motherboard to your hard drive there should be 3 connectors on this cable.
to the mobo, one on the hd, and the other can be connected to another drive if it is not. The mobo should have a second ide channel next to where this cable is plugged into. I would reccomend you put a second hd on the other cable, not the one the other hd is connected to. Then you simply set the jumper on the drive and plug it in, that's it.
