What is a troll ?

I have heard people calling others that. Someting, the word "trollling" is also used. Can some explain this term to me. ( Yes, I know that it is not the same troll that exits in tolein's tolkern's world)

Erm, last I heard it was a requirement to work in any bridge tollbooth in the world. If you want to work on a bridge tollbooth you must take an oath of trolldom. :p :) :D

trolling is a fishing technique used...i believe it is when you throw the line out in the water and have the boat go reaaalllly slow

I was honestly looking for a thread that discussed the possible origin of the word, and this is the first (or rather, last) thread I was able to find on this....

So, how do you think it is defined?

I think it comes more from fishing terminology (trolling the waters, looking for something to catch) than the "Troll under the bridge".
