What is a "triple room" in a hotel?

So I'm looking to book a hotel in London, and the rooms are divided by:

Std Single
Sleeps 1

Std Twin/Double
Sleeps 2

Std Triple
Sleeps 3

Does this mean there are 2 separate beds that can sleep three, or is it just one big bed? I've never seen a "triple" in the states, so I didn't know what to take from that. Anyone know?

The triples I've seen in Europe ranged from a queen + twin, to three twins.
