What is a scientist?

And uses the Scientific Method in doing so, as opposed to, say, reading the Bible and drawing conclusions from that.

Bible is not a science book.

Good science, however, relies on the scientific method and draws conclusions only from observable and testable phenomenon. Bad/false science occurs when people try and use scientific facts and project them into untestable/unobservable situations where science doesn't belong, anyway. Science has its place, but not as the sole determinant in philosophical, religious, political, economic, or historical considerations. Science is a good tool, but only when properly applied.

Lol, it's true, too. Classic xkcd.
I'd love to have a lightning machine...
Kind of useless if all it does is strike whoever touches it. 😛

I'd hire an engineer to modify it. Lightning gun!

I was thinking that too. (except the gun part but good one)

Marge: Homer! There's someone here who can help you...
Homer: Is it Batman?
Marge: No, he's a scientist.
Homer: Batman's a scientist
Marge: It's not Batman!
