I watch DVDs a lot and games like CS.

Well THESE got an excellent review in the latest PC gamer. I heard em at JandR this weekend and they sound pretty damn good for 50 bucks.

! of my roomies has the Altec 48.2's and the other has the Boston Accustic eqivs.

I'd have to recomend the Altecs for superior bass and some serious volume w/ clarity!!!!!

These particular altecs are definietly the way to go, just stay far away from the 33's, they are great low cost but man do you get what you pay for!

Mybad, the altecs my roomie has are the 340's, great units but not sure about the price. (I've also heard the creative Cambridge Digitals - if those are cheaper than the 340's and within the limit I would go for them instead cause of the extra jacks - good luck)

I'd do the ACS48 or ACS56. The 56 are 4 point and don't have quite as powerful a sub. Not sure if the 56 fit into $60 though...the ACS54 are also quite good though they have an even weaker sub. Though it's certainly adaquate, and quite good for the price really.

Cambridge FPS1000 are 45 bucks at my local Wal-Mart. Altec Lansing ACS-45 or 54 are pretty nice as well, though the sub is quite lacking.

I agree fps1000 from cambridge are a great deal for the money. Good sound, rather cheap, four speakers and cambridges quality, can't go wrong.
