Rachmaninov Piano Concerto 2.

My wife and I saw a performance of this piece years ago at the Hollywood Bowl with Andre Watts. She cried it moved her so much.

I'm playing for Andre Watts in a month or so. He's on faculty here now (Indiana University School of Music). Good pianist, never heard him do Rachmaninov though.

Tchaik's 1st (piano concerto) was probably the first one to influence me...then I had an overall Russian stage...Rhapsody in Blue eventually took hold in the top 10 for me...although that's rather general since I've listened to a lot of classical. No matter what else I'm listening to, classical and jazz can always make me happy.

well, this may be trite, but Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries. Stirring. Plus fun to listen to while playing the germans on the Battle of Britain map in BF1942 😀

So, it's all the more inspiring cranking it up in BF:Vietnam like on the movie Apocalpyse Now. If you haven't played it the track is included in the game and you just push a key to start it while you're flying your chopper towards the enemy village. Great fun!

Beethovens 9th.
Best piece of music EVER written. Gives me goosbumps every time I hear it.... cripes even when I hum it in my head like right now... Amazingly one of the best versions I have ever heard actually is in the Hollywood movie Immortal Beloved. Its performed flawlessly IMO.
