What is a more reasonable alterntive to drudgereport.com?

StageLeft

No Lifer
I have used drudge as my go-to for at least a year but this election has made his underlying bias too hard to swallow. The reason I like drudge is that it points to various other news sites, rather like google news does, but does so very efficiently. On the first page I can see an entire list of the news based only on headline and through fonts and colors it somewhat priotizes them. Google news' format is terrible, even on the minimum settings it requires vast amounts of scrolling and simply seems boring like nobody is in charge of it and a bot is ranking everything.

Oh, also drudge report is VERY fast. I basically want drudge without matt drudge making it.

Neary everything else on the internet. Try salon.com for a nice site of information, it has news items and original content, liberal orientation.

So you'd advise him to go from one biased slant to the next?? makes sense...or is it better/acceptable because it is leaning to the left, nice double standard.

Ireally didn't find drudge that slanted before, but the election has made it hard for him to hide it, plus his viewership is the only one on the net it seems who ranked palin over biden for their debate (fail) but I don't want a liberallý biased site, either.

Although Matt doesn't generate most of the news articles himself, the bias comes from both the sensationalist titles and the articles selected for posting.

In this election the Drudge Report is hardly the most biased news site going. Obama could set a school yard on fire during recess right in front of press and they wouldn't report it. Thing I like about Drudge is the site loads so clean. Its amazing other sites dont emulate that. So may sites load like they are vomitting at you and trying to crash your browser.

bias in what's being linked?
Exactly, so instead of several links making fun of Palin and then some calling Obam marxist, they'll basically all be calling obama marxist.

Wow, I nearly pissed in my pants as this is the first post you've made that I actually found a point to agree with. Although I think Drudge is pretty high up there in regards to Bias, I agree the site design should be emulated by others, its simple and clean.

Man, how much is Rove paying you?

The closest I can think of is Yahoo news Most Popular and Most Recommended.. you get mix of everything in there and each story has a short summary.

I highly recommend Fark.com over garbage like drudge ....

Fark also tends to get the news first as it's made up of users who submit the stories - and you can discuss the topic with others.

I agree with you about browsers, it's because sites are just throwing more and more fvcking javascript at us. Best-case is it takes 10 seconds for a page to render and worse cse it just crashses it anyway. Even Gmail is pretty bad in this regard.

WTF? You people still can't get over the fact that he broke the Lewinsky story can you...

Drudge puts all sorts of stuff on his site and I don't see how any rational person can say he has some overt bias. Hell, some of his stuff pisses of the right and some pisses off the left.

I never visit the site but out of curiosity I see the highlighted headline is:

"BIDEN GRILLED BY NEWS ANCHOR: IS OBAMA MARXIST?"

This sounds like a pretty insignificant but sensational attack to me. Sure you can argue that it's just a question and that he's just the messenger, but just giving this issue credence seems to show some bias.

Imagine it the other way around:

"PALIN GRILLED BY NEWS ANCHOR: IS MCCAIN A BIGOT?"

Do you have a problem with reading comprehension? I said I've been going to him for a year, so certainly any talk of Lewinsky isn't directed at me. I've even mentioned on AT before that drudge and P&N are my primary news sources.

He is biased to the right. He does, more than anything, enjoy pissing everyone off, but I'm really looking for as middle of the road news source as possible and he's not it.

Uhh... have you wateched the biden interview clip? She basically asked him if Obama was marxist.
Just because you don't like his headline doesn't mean it isn't true or that he has a bias. There have been things he's posted that some on the right think are absurd for him to post because as you say, it gives "credence" to it.

No, i was directing it at the people who still think drudge is a gop shill. Many of them have not gotten over the lewinsky thing and will forever hate him for that.

There is no middle of the road news source - drudge is as close as it gets. He's as equal opportunity pisser-offer.
