What is a good Tequila???

I need to buy a bottle of good tequila for someone I am visiting later on this afternoon and I am looking for ideas. I personally prefer Petron but I bought a bottle of that last time so I need to prevent a repeat. Cuervo is way too common so I need to avoid that like the plague. Any ideas for a smooth drinking tequila? Preferably something that cost less than $35 a bottle, thanks.

i had some 1800 last night. it was alright. i sipped it.

not as nice as maccallan's 12 though.

which isn't as good as balmore (i think) 15 in sherry barrels i got for my father.

You MUST get 100% agave tequilla otherwise you don't know what is in the bottle. Cabo Wabo is good as well and can be found in any liquor store.

You can get Cabo Wabo Silver and Gold at any Costco in California! I am from Seattle (we have regulated Liquer Stores in WA) so buying half gallon Maker's Mark and Grey Goose for cheap at Costco is the bomb. The Cabo Wabo tequilla is only available in 750ml. bottles, though.

seriously though.. if you like your taste buds, dont torture them with that crap. Spend the same ammount and get a great bottle of vodka, which is actually drinkable. therefor more enjoyable.

The only reall good Tequila is from Tequila, Mexico. My uncle went there and got me a huge bottle of it for uber cheap ($10 or so). Its the same, high-grade stuff that would cost me over $150 for a smaller bottle.

Dunno the name, but he said it was quite expensive in stores out here.

Yo,
Depending on where you live, good tequila is hard to find (Cuervo does not count).

A good tequila that's found without too much difficulty is Patron. Note that this is meant to be had straight and sipped; it's not meant for mixed drinks or for doing shots. This is roughly equivalent to drinking 12 year old Scotch.
