What is a good telescope to buy that is around $300??

I am thinking of buying a telescope to peek at the night sky (check out the planets, stars, etc), which brand and what type of telescope should I buy that is around $300? Thanks!

Go to an estate auction of an astronomer, and hope nobody else knows what a good telescope costs. Cause you aint getting nothing but $hit at 300 for a telescope.
