Your goal at a buffet really shouldn't be to simply eat as much as possible. How much are you really enjoying that last little bit of food you force down your throat? Just go, eat as much as you're comfortable with, and be done with it. When I go to a buffet, I go for the ability to select any food I want, and try a bit of everything I want. I don't go because I can eat as much as I want, I can get full at most restaurants.

I use buffets to try lots of different foods, not overeat. And I'm a fat guy.

Haha, so true. What I like to do is eat salda/fruit/cottage cheese first plate. Next is beef, chicken, ham. Third plate is taco, lasagna, whatever looks ok but not sure of taste. Fourth plate is other stuff that looks good, and more meat - whatever was best. Next is a bit more salad - fruit. Last one is whatever was best, and dessert. And I only weigh 143 lbs. :)

It's apparent some people just go to buffet's to gorge their faces. I wonder how many, like me, just go to eat a meal? I go for the selection of food, but I normally only eat one plateful, and perhaps some dessert.

I don't gorge myself, since i go to buffets enough that it's not a huge event (seems like there's every type of buffet here available, chinese, indian, sushi, even mongolian)... but i do eat more than i normally would. Has nothing to do with getting my moneys worth, but more because it's so good.

don't eat cheap fillers like potatos bread rice pasta, if you browse only get small amounts of each to taste, i noticed that its very easy to load up your plate with variety you think you are only trying out but it turns out to be a lot once you try to shove it down...

If you aren't going to a buffet to stuff your mouth full, why bother? Just go to a regular place, with higher quality food. Buffets are there so you can stuff yourself full, and throw up at home afterwards.

A few pointers to get your moneys worth. Chew alot. Make sure that you slice the food, so your stomach doesn't need to digest it all. Pair sweet things with not so sweet things, so you cut down on your water intake. I always want to drink a big sip of water after I eat something sweet, but if I pair it with somehting like fried chicken, it helps even out the taste.
Eat in small intervals. One plate every 15 minutes is a nice pace. Also, eat pastries first. They tend to digest faster, so if you eat all the sweets first, you will have room later for meats and other goodies. You might get dizzy, but thats part of the experience.

Stay there for a long time (Allows your body to digest and go out the other door)
Eat some vegetables (Makes your body digest faster because of the Cellulose)
Eat expensive food that tastes good (ie: Sushi / Lobster / Steak)
Don't eat extra stuff (ie: Rice / Noodles / Soup)
Avoid the deep fried food (It fills your stomach up faster since it's fatty)

A book ? Really ?!

They give an inch, people will take a mile.

98% of the people eat way less than they paid for. The ones who pig out are just evening out the playing field. I have a problem with people who waste food at buffets, but if you're not going to waste any. Hell eat 10 plates for all I care. Most buffet places make tons of money.

if it's got an "all you eat" sign, then they're putting a challenge out, and I accept! :)

No, only online.

Just eat the stuff you like best until you're stuffed. That's the point of having a buffet. If your goal in life is to screw over the establishments that you patronize, then stick to McDonalds and Wal-mart, and stay away from my buffets!

Eat until you are satisfied and full. Alot of people that go to buffets overeat and binge eat, just because they want to get "value for money"

They dont realize that by overeating they are stretching their stomach and putting unneeded junk in their body.

It's a buffet, of course you overeat and get "value for your money". That's the point, and nothing wrong with it once in a great while. Stop trying to be a nanny.

Ryan's has a better buffet than most of what is in Vegas. I personally think Vegas' buffets are overhyped.

Some people are really so procedural that they need to actually think about these things.
