I recall that the Epox board has some serious (read: total) incompatibility with certain chipsets. Don't remember which, but I think it's listed at the Epox site somewhere. Other than that, the lower end (non-hardware) cards are supposed to all be pretty much the same in functionality - the actual work the cards do is minimal. Advantage of Promise is that their cards are so widespread, it's a bit easier to find solutions if problems arise. Worth ~$25 to me, but it's not my wallet we're discussing.
